Knowing what to pack for such a once in a life time experience of a holiday is not always the easiest thing to guess at. Do you need clothes for hot weather or cold? Should you bring any types of medication? Is there anything which you can bring to make you get the most out of your safari experience?
Here are some of the complete essentials that you should bring with you on safari to ensure that you remain safe, healthy, and get the utter most out of your African adventure experience.
Clothing:
You should bring mainly loose and comfortable clothing with you on safari, as you will be in your vehicle the majority of the time. Try and stick to beige or khaki coloured clothes to ensure that you are not attracting any unnecessary attention from insects such as Tsetse flies with the brightness of your clothing.
You will require a fleece for when it gets cold which is in the morning (especially if you do an early morning game drive), and at night when it gets colder by the evening.
A comfortable and sturdy pair of walking shoes or boots will ensure your feet remain safe and well protected throughout the period of your safari.
Medication:
It is common sense to bring a basic first aid kit with you on your African safari holiday. As Tanzania is a malaria risk zone, you should also bring and take a prescribed form of malarial tablet these pills come in many different forms of chemical, so it is best to talk to your doctor or g.p. about which medication will suit you best.
Sun Protection:
For protection against the strong African sun, it is important to bring some essential items with you, including sun block – for application to more sensitive areas five fingers, sun cream for general protection again the sun to exposed skin summer fashion guide, UV protected sunglasses and a large hat that covers your face, neck and head. Even if the sun is not out in the daytime, you should still cover up, as although you may not see it, the sun can be hidden behind clouds and still give you nasty burns due to the sheer strength of its rays.
Miscellaneous Items:
To get the most out of the wildlife viewing you will be doing whilst on safari, you should consider bringing along 2 items which will really enhance your experience allot. First of all a pair of binoculars you will come across many animals which are too far in the distance for you to see, looking through binoculars not only lets you see the animals which is a mere dot in the distance, but it also allows you to see the finer details, such as the pattern on the body of a leopard or cheetah. Secondly, a camera (with spare memory/battery power) will allow you to capture the sights you see on your safari holiday and show them to friends and family if they were such amazing sights that you cannot get the words out to describe them, then the picture will speak a thousand words and more!
