Prepare yourself for a spa day

February 4th, 2012

If you are new to a spa experience and sceptical about what to expect, then you need preparation. Do your homework to feel comfortable and to expect what you receive at a spa. Ask the people who have already been to spas what it’s all about and what they go through. Ask about their first spa visit. Get to know the spa basics so you do not have to deal with surprises. Do research on the spas close to you or the spas available where you’re on holiday. When you pick the spa you like, ask for details about the treatments, services and rates. Usually the spa will give you a robe to wear and a towel when they do treatments. If you are receiving hydrotherapy and feel uncomfortable to remove all your clothes, you can wear a swimsuit. It is a good idea to ask them what you should wear in order to go prepared.
It is not a good idea to have a heavy meal but make sure you eat something to keep your stomach from rumbling. Eating a heavy meal might make it uncomfortable for you to lie on your stomach during treatments and massages. Your possessions will be safely put in a locker or a cupboard but do not take precious items or valuables. After the spa treatment, make sure to check you have everything you brought with you. Arrive early, 15 minutes before your appointment in order to be prepared. Go to the bathroom and make sure you wouldn’t have to use it in the middle of the treatment. Drink water to hydrate your skin. Do not be afraid to ask questions about relevant things that you need to know from the spa personnel and if you want to rest and be quiet during the treatments, they too will understand how you want to be treated.
Relaxing your muscles and the whole body allows your therapist to make the job easier. Do not be afraid to tell them where it hurts, where a lot of tension is gathered and where your soft spots are. If they are using too much pressure when massaging, tell them to go easy and always communicate the issues you have during therapy. Most of us love to go to a spa during holidays, at the hotel we are staying or some place else where they specialise in spa therapy. Devon is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country and if you’re looking for a day spa in Devon, you will find some really amazing places.
Feel good on your holiday by giving yourself a spa day in Devon to pamper your body and soul at “TLH” and experience relaxation at its best. Do not forget to treat yourself to a day spa in Devon the next time you visit this beautiful holiday destination and indulge in comfort that will leave you refreshed and rejuvenated.

January 10th, 2012

Located in Eastern China, the city of Suzhou is in the Jiangsu Province and lies along the banks of Taihu Lake. Boasting a rich history stretching back over 2,500 years, this culturally diverse city is home to historical attractions and ancient gardens. One such picturesque and historical area worth visiting is the West Garden Temple.

Situated west of Suzhou, this popular attraction dates back to the Yuan Dynasty when it was known as the ‘Guiyuan Temple’. During the Ming Dynasty its named was changed to the ‘Commandments Temple’ and today it is one of the most ancient temples in the region south of Yangtze River. Made up of two areas namely the West Garden and the Commandments Temple, this peaceful natural sanctuary is set amidst scenic greenery including ancient trees.

Those visiting West Garden Temple have much to see as they explore the quiet confines of the area such as the popular Hall of Five Hundred Arhats. Built during the latter stages of the Ming Dynasty, this temple is famous for having a collection of five hundred ‘arhats’, a term given to Buddhist monks who have achieved enlightenment. The arhats one will find here each have their own names and expressions and range in age and personality as well such as the popular ‘Monk of Succour’ and the ‘Crazy Monk’.

Another attraction within the West Garden Temple worth visiting is the Hall of Avalokitesvara. Towering nearly thirteen metres in height, this impressive work of religious art depicting the bodhisattva ‘Guanyin’ with numerous hands has been created using scented camphor wood. Another interesting work of art one will find here is a figure of Buddha with four faces which are believed to be representations of four well known mountains associated with Buddhism.

Other attractions worth seeing include the Heavenly King’s hall, the Buddhist Sutra Building and the Grand Precious Hall. In the West Garden area is Fangsheng Pond which is home to fish as well as rare species of tortoises that are believed to be descendents from those that were reared during the Ming Dynasty.
